International Festival of Art on Billboards „Art Moves”
The oldest billboard gallery in the world is located in Toruń and celebrates it’s 10th anniversary this year. We are talking about Galeria Rusz run by two artists – Joanna Górska and Rafał Góralski.
The anniversary celebration started in September but its peak is planned between October 1st and November 8th, during the Second International Festival of Art on Billboards “Art Moves”. TORUŃ 2016 is one of the partners of the festival.
The authors of Art Moves are convinced, that art is something veryimportant for the modern human and can be a perfect resonance box, which induces vibrations in the human brain, that can throw off theshackles of routine and show new tracks of reality. If you are lookingcarefully at the surroundings, you can come to a sad conclusion, that acontemporary human lost somewhere in this complicated mechanism whichis contemporary civilization. Humanity has become numb, has got stuck, but every living organism needs movement! Maybe art can pull the humanrace out from stupor? Art, that moves!
Another new event at the festival, along with Competition of Art on Billboards, will be an art poster action involving the people of Toruń, particularly residents of the Bydgoskie Przedmieście and Old Town districts. The residents will be invited to become part of the art exhibition space by displaying posters (specially produced for this purpose by Galeria Rusz) in their shop, office or house windows. The posters will be distributed free of charge by volunteers or will be available at designated locations, including the Library at 61 Mickiewicza Street and “Niebo” Club at 1 Stary Rynek. The posters will also be displayed on advertising pillars located in the abovementioned districts.
