Open Lecture of Polish Humanitarian Action
An interesting lecture by Professor Gerard McCann on the relationship between the European Union and its former colonies will be held on December 15 in the series of lectures organized by the Polish Humanitarian Organization and the Department of International Political Relations of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
The lecture entitled The legacy of Colonialism and the European Union concerns the relationship between the European Union and its former colonies and postcolonial balance of power. During the lecture will be presented the evolution of the European Union’s development policy and its impact on the situation in some of the most needy countries of the global South. During the lecture will be analyzed the initiatives taken to strengthen the cooperation between former colonies and the European Union members. During the lecture will be presented potential solutions to enable the creation of more equal relations between the European Union and its former colonies.
Gerard McCann is Associate Professor European studies and geography at the university of St. Mary and Qeen’s University of Belfast. Gerard McCann is the project coordinator of program ,,Dimension of Globalisation in Education “, he coordinates the initiative of cooperation with universities in Zambia, Kenya and Palestine.
The lecture will be delivered in English, in room number 310 at the faculty of political science and international studies at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
