The Passion of the Christ in Grębocin
On Holy Wednesday (March 31) at 8 p.m. on the square near the Museum of Literature and Printing in Grębocin an unusual spectacle will take place: an outdoor Mystery of the Passion.
The Mystery is organized by the St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus in Grębocin for the third time. The actors are amateurs working every day in various movements and communities, teachers and students of the Grębocin school and many other people, also from the outside of the the parish.
Mystery is not merely a spectacle, but above all an opportunity to take an active, deep experience the passion and death of Jesus. One of the aims of the organizers is to break the division between actors and spectators and create a crowd hurrying from Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem, to the Cross. That is why the participants receive the same cloth as the actors and palm branches on the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
The organizers refrain from separating the audience from the actors through the railings. On the contrary, soldiers, pushing through the crowd, almost physically force the participation of the faithful. Crude scenery, expressive music and lights allow everybody to focus on the spiritual dimension of presented events.
